Tesla have announced their third quarter vehicle delivery numbers

Tesla announced on Sunday their third quarter vehicle delivery numbers, with the company having delivered 24,500 vehicles – 15,800 being the Model S and 8,700 being the Model X.

This showed an increase of over 70% from Tesla’s second quarter, noting that around 5,000 vehicles were still in transit at the end of the third quarter and therefore were not counted as they will now be included in the fourth quarter.

For the year, Tesla had intended to make delivery of 80,000 – 90,000 vehicles and its current production levels are relatively positive by hitting the lower end of that figure.

The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, has set the company an ambitious target of 500,000 annual deliveries by 2018 which will be helped by the Model 3, Tesla's mass market vehicle which is currently anticipated for release in late 2017.
